Southern Oregon University
Leading the way for sustainability on campuses around the country, SOU passed a bold sustainability fee in 2006/2007 to support the purchase of RECs/green tags, offsetting 100% of the campuses electricity and natural gas use with clean renewable energy. Today the campus is continuing to lead by example as one of the first 300 signatories to the ACUPCC. But the school doesn't simply profess their commitment with the signing of a document, they live it. With the help of a sustainability committee charged with advising the executive administrators on all things sustainable the campus has significantly reduced their energy use, streamlined waste management and made each step an educational experience for students and faculty alike.
