  • ENERGY STAR- www.energystar.gov. Their document http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=guidelines.guidelines_index is a good tool for planning energy conservation.  Also, see their higher education section under the Business Improvement heading. Bowdoin created an ENERGY STAR back-to-school shopping list at http://www.bowdoin.edu/sustainablebowdoin/ pdf/backtoschool.pdf.

  • Earth911- http://washington.earth911.org. Provides tips for conserving energy throughout a home or business under their Energy Conservation sidebar.

  • Harvard Green Campus Initiative- www.greencampus.harvard.edu. This website showcases Harvard’s suitability efforts.  It is a great place to get information and inspiration.

  • Greening Schools- www.greeningschools.org.  This program’s focus is on Illinois public schools, but the information and resources can be applied to education facilities of all levels. The resources tab provides summaries of links to sites with information on topics like indoor air quality, food services, energy efficiency, and facility maintenance.

  • WSU Energy Program- www.energy.wsu.edu. This program at Washington State University has a lot of information about the science of energy. Their Resource Efficiency Management provides support and information on how to set up an efficiency program.

  • The National Association of College and University Food Services created a list of industry members who are developing sustainable practices for university kitchens. For the industry list see http://www.nacufs.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=4450.
