Conservation and Efficiency
Energy Conservation and Efficiency
Energy conservation and efficiency improvements are an integral part of any campus’s sustainability plan. Reducing energy use not only reduces a campus’s ecological footprint, but also reduces energy bills. Conservation and efficiency projects can be as simple as encouraging students to turn off lights when they leave a room, or as complicated as installing campus-wide digital controls to maintain comfort levels based on outside air temperature, occupancy, and building parameters. The sections included here provide an overview of areas with conservation and efficiency improvement potential, and case studies from campuses implementing these measures.
